Harp Instruction

I believe in the positive approach to teaching. I have Suzuki training but do not consider myself a 'strick' Suzuki teacher. The Suzuki philosophy is what I base my teaching on.

My students have the opportunity to perform in groups at assisted living homes, libraries, bookstores and other public places where others can benefit from their talents. I believe in teaching service and not the traditional recital situations. Positive performances are what we hope to achieve everytime.

Intermediate level students and above have the opportunity to be a part of The Georgia Harp Ensemble....a group that I began in December 2000. We rehearse once a month and perfom twice a year.

I have folk harps available for rent exclusively for my harp students. All rentals are on a month to month basis. You will be able to keep this harp in your home to practice with. I have at least two harps in the studio at all times so there is no need to transport a harp to and from lessons...unless there is a problem with the harp and it needs my attention.

I take students as young as three years old through adult. A music background is not necessary to begin harp lessons.

All lessons are private and are held weekly in my harp studio. For children I recommend a 30 minute lesson. For adults a 45 minute or 60 minute lesson is required.

A commonly asked question I hear is,
"How much do I have to practice?"
I require that you practice only on the days you eat!

During lessons we cover composition and theory....I will be adding a computer based ear training and theory program to be done before or after the lesson each week. This way I will be able to track each individual student and better pin point where extra help is needed.

I teach all styles of music. From January to May I use the Suzuki Harp Method and other suplimented harp repetoire material. During the summer months I let the students learn pop music or anything of their choosing. I arrange for their abilities. Many take the summer to learn how to compose for the harp....or make their own arrangements. About Sept- Oct we begin Holiday music.

My goal as a harp teacher is to create a positive environment that the love of music can flourish. If something is not positive we don't do it. Music should be fun...and I love teaching and sharing this gift with others.

Thank you for the opportunity
of bringing harp into your life.
